Hossein Fattahi, MD, MS, MA
Dr. Hossein Fattahi is a physician with a diverse academic and professional background spanning medicine, psychology, anthropology, and public health. He earned his M.D. from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and pursued advanced studies in forensic psychology (M.S., Arizona State University) and social and cultural anthropology (M.A. and Ph.D. training, New York University).
Currently, Dr. Fattahi is training in psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/NYC Health + Hospitals (Elmhurst), with a strong interest in forensic psychiatry, community psychiatry, global mental health, and suicide prevention. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersection of psychiatry, public policy, and social justice, particularly in the implementation of mental health programs for underserved populations.
As the Secretary of the New York Chapter of IAMA, he is committed to fostering professional collaboration and mentorship within the Iranian American medical community and beyond. He actively engages in initiatives that promote mental health equity and advocates for culturally competent psychiatric care. He also serves as a member of the advocacy committee at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in NYC.
Beyond his medical and academic pursuits, Dr. Fattahi enjoys scuba diving, classical music, jazz, and exploring different cultures and languages.
