Arash Dabestani, PharmD
Arash Dabestani is currently the Dean and Professor at Long Island University College of Pharmacy. He was the Senior Director of Pharmacy at NYU Langone Health for eight years prior to joining academia, and previously served as associate director of pharmacy at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics. Prior to becoming a pharmacy administrator, he maintained an active clinical practice in hospital pharmacy and specialty pediatric home health care. Arash received his PharmD from Campbell University and his Master in Health Administration from the University of North Carolina (Charlotte). Arash has over 25 years of experience as a health system pharmacy executive (Sentara, NYU, and Stanford University), as well as a practicing pharmacist in community, hospital, home infusion, and specialty pharmacy. He is considered a global subject matter expert in pharmacy technology, inventory automation, supply-chain, medication safety, and quality control. In 2007, Arash became a Senior Leadership Fellow of the Advisory Board in Washington DC after completing a two-year fellowship for high-performing emerging executives. That year, he also was named Virginia Society of Health System Pharmacists pharmacist of the year. Arash has formed and facilitated multiple pharmacy leadership forums in Washington DC, New York, and the San Francisco Bay area. In 2023, he was invited to the White House to discuss the topic of medication quality. He currently lectures at NYU School of Dentistry and has previously lectured at the UCSF, Virginia Commonwealth, and Long Island University Schools of Pharmacy. Arash has served multiple terms on the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Manager’s Leadership Development Section and was named a Fellow of ASHP in 2011.
